Abstract: Six Sigma is one of the best developing methodologies for quality confirmation and administration in Automobile parts manufacturing. In this research, Quality management tools such as Data Analysis, Pareto charts, Cause and Effect diagrams, Process capability study, Failure Mode Effect Analysis(FMEA), Design of Experiments(DOE), Visual and Control charts etc. are used in characterizing the problems to discover the underlying drivers for the problems and doing tests so as to propose improvements, through which the organization could acquire quality and soundness all the while. The project will be focused on the quality improvement of major defect in cylinder head which were produced by low pressure die casting machines in an Auto mobile manufacturing company.  In this project the main defect cause this rejection is “Misrun” which is observed in low pressure die casting of cylinder head. Using the Six Sigma method the DPMO reduces from 16400 to 7800. Further improvement in the rejection is expected in the long run after the continous implementation of all the solutions.

Abstract: Among several variables which influence the workability of fresh concrete is water/cement ratio (w/c), hence the need to investigate the latter’s effect on concrete blended with BA. Traditionally, w/c ratio probably is the most important parameter within cement materials technology such as concrete and mortar. An extensive experimentation was performed to study the workability of wet concrete in which pozzolanic portland cement (PPC) was partially replaced with fine (< 0.075mm) BA. Samples of the latter were purposely selected from the Nzoia Sugar Company (NSC) dump sites in western Kenya. The w/c ratio was varied from 0.40 to 0.60 for different sets of BA replacement of cement levels ranging from 0 to 30%. The study showed that the optimum BA replacement of PPC is 10% for all w/c ratios that gives the highest workability. In the study conclusion, it was further stated that 0.55 was the optimum w/c.

Abstract: This work, focused on an idea about hybrid solar car technology which solves the major problem of fuel and pollution in present days. Determine how feasible widespread change to hybrids would be in future with all information taken into account, concluded that hybrids have several advantages as fuel efficient, low pollution. In the present work a complete drawing and drafting of hybrid solar car have been prepared using CATIA V5R19 software. After complete analysis of this drawing by using ANSYS 14.5 it is find out bear capability of load, stress, and strain of front & rear collision of car frame. A completed data are analyzed to examine the technical aspects of the hybrid car technology. Overall, hybrid technology has a lot of potential in the distant future, but as for right now they are not a significant applied over today’s internal combustion engine.

Abstract: This paper provides an overview of nanotechnology and its multiple applications. This includes its extension to medicine, the military, even to the food industry and other areas of daily civilian lives. In addition, this paper traces the growth and evolution of nanotechnology over the last few years and a comparison of the various forms of the technology over the same period.

Abstract: Environmental issues such as climate change and associated global warming, depletion of natural resource and biodiversity, water and soil pollution, generation of huge amount of waste materials and their disposal are some of great challenges faced by present day civilization. Recycling of materials and reuse of the material is very important. Recycled concrete aggregates are used in concrete in replacement of nominal concrete aggregates 20mm and grit aggregates, replacement of 50%. Different various percentage of aggregate replacement gives optimum replacement content 50% in mix design of M20 without admixture using. Cubes are curing in sea water solution and H2SO4 + HCl acid solution. After  duration of 28 day, 56 day and 90 day considering mass loss of 0.07633%, 0.157% and 8.4767%  recycled aggregates to nominal cubes for acid curing, and strength will achieved at end of 28 days and  56 day,  strength is decreased 4% and at the end of 90 days strength will decreased 4% and same as mass loss. The porosity and voids are generated due to curing of specific condition.

Abstract: Leak detection in gas pipelines has always been a great challenge for engineers, which prompts us to develop much better ways to inspect pipelines efficiently. Saving time and money at the same time are priorities of the pipeline inspection. There have been numerous models around the world but performance varies on a wider range. Most of the inspection systems have limited applicability, are neither reliable nor robust, while others depend on the user experience. This project work consists of developing an ‘In Pipe Inspection Robot’ that move inside a pipeline and find the position of leakage. The need of a leak detecting system, types of leak detecting system are discussed in brief. Leak detection is done using the principle of pressure gradient around the leakage area and The robot chassis is incorporated with the electronic components for the movement of robot inside the pipeline.

Abstract: Thermo-acoustic is concerned with the interactions between heat and pressure oscillations. Rijke Tube is an open-ended tube with a properly placed heat source inside it. To study thermo-acoustic phenomena in Rijke tube, Experimental setup was build up. Experiments were done by changing voltage, changing current, changing air temperature, variation of position of heating element inside the Rijke tube etc. This research paper basically deals with understanding thermo-acoustic effects in Rijke tube.

Abstract: Crushers may be used to reduce the size, or change the form, of waste materials so they can be more easily disposed of or recycled, or to reduce the size of a solid mix of raw materials (as in rock ore), so that pieces of different composition can be differentiated. Crushing is the process of transferring a force amplified by mechanical advantage through a material made of molecules that bond together more strongly, and resist deformation more, than those in the material being crushed do. Crushing devices hold material between two parallel or tangent solid surfaces, and apply sufficient force to bring the surfaces together to generate enough energy within the material being crushed so that its molecules separate from (fracturing), or change alignment in relation to (deformation), each other. The earliest crushers were hand-held stones, where the weight of the stone provided a boost to muscle power, used against a stone anvil. Querns and mortars are types of these crushing devices. We are designing and analyzing a special kind of crushing machine which is connected to the flywheel of a tractor by means of PTO shaft (power takeoff shaft). This machine is intended to crush the organic material such as bio-waste. While the tractor on moving the machine can work through PTO shaft. Thus the degradation and disposal of bio waste become in simple manner.

Abstract: In past Mold Design process was time taking as well as hectic. At first Drawing board, then 2D software’s were used after which patterns were made. But in this case the results were not considerable most of the times. Thus the design to market time increased immensely and also project cost required was on a higher side.
Due to the technological advancement the process of Mold Design has fastened and also the results are considerable. With the help of 3D software we can create Parametric Design, Which are editable. Also we can look at number of possibilities for designing a mold. Most importantly the process of Drawing Creation for Mold Design becomes very easy. In a 3D software Visualization of our design is easy possible. Thus our project aims at the awareness of developments of the new age technology of 3D CAD/Mold Wizard for Mold Design.

Abstract: Nowadays the use of cement in construction work is extremely increased. Also new big problem arrived i.e. the shortage of natural resources like stones, aggregate, sand, water, etc. Huge production of cement produces foul gases causes’ air pollution and increases temperature of earth. Generally the one tone production of OPC releases approximately one ton of carbon dioxide (CO2) to the atmosphere. Sugar cane bagasse ash (SCBA) is one of the wastes produced from the sugar industry causes serious environmental problem. From past research it is found that, for conservation of natural resources and utilization of waste product the  Nano- silica (NS) and Sugar cane bagasse ash (SCBA) as a supplementary material for cement to improve their strength and performance. Nano Silica has been partially replaced in ratio 2%, 4% and 6% by weight of cement in concrete [13]. Bagassse Ash has been partially replaced in the ratio 0%, 5%, 15% and 25% by weight of cement in concrete [20]. This paper includes review on the strength of concrete by using Nano Silica and Sugar Cane Baggase Ash and its different properties.

Abstract: This Project presents the Design of Machining Fixture for Support Bracket for Machining on VTC (Vertical Turning Centre). Fixture Design consists of High product rate, low manufacturing operation cost. The fixture should be designed in such-a-way that part/product change overtime is very less. The report consists of study of input data from customers like Part drawing and Assembly drawing. The fixture design begins with part modeling, Machining and Analysis of various parts in the fixture assembly using AutoCAD and Solid works, for a analysis ANSYS Software package is used. The actual design begins with study details of project proposal summary from customer. After that machining fixture concept is done. Locating and clamping points are decided. This also includes accessibility, loading and unloading sequence of parts, required material for this fixture is selected, and Fixture is designed at HMT MACHINE TOOL, KALAMASSERY using Industrial application standards. Locating accuracy and machined part quality tested and found that the fixture is as good as any dedicated fixture in production.
