Abstract: Bagasse is a cellulose fiber remaining after the extraction of the sugar-bearing juice from sugarcane. It is a valuable byproduct in sugar milling and is often used as a primary fuel source due to its high calorific value required to supply most energy requirement for most sugar factory operations. The burning of baggase leaves solid black particles known as sugar cane baggase ash (SCBA).  Utilization of this waste material as partial replacement of cement in concrete provides a satisfactory solution to some of the economical, environmental and concerns associated with waste management. SCBA is normally disposed as landfills, exposure to these dusts causes chronic lung condition and its application on agricultural lands results to heavy metals concentrations in soils. It has been reported by several researchers that SCBA has intrinsic characteristic such as high content of silica in the form of quartz. This research mainly focused on SCBA disposed as solid wastes from Nzoia Sugar Company, Bungoma County in western Kenya. The research design adopted was Experimental. Granulometric indices of SCBA were determined through sieving the samples and weight retained. Strength Activity Index test, was used to assess the Pozzolanic activity of SCBA.  Results showed that SCBA exhibits high Pozzolanic activity, hence can be used as a substitute cementitious material.

Abstract: Aluminum oxide synthesized through sintering route. The present research work deals with Alrrite composite prepared using chemical reactions. Aluminum nitrates and ammonium chloride doped with sisal fiber has been prepared. The comparative studies of aluminum oxide were examined through dielectric measurement.

Abstract:Cotton fabric was simultaneously modified with maleic anhydride and Allium cepa and maleic anhydride and Terminalia arjuna in presence of sodium citrate as esterification catalyst and potassium peroxodisulfate as free radical polymerization catalyst using a dip-dry-iron-cure technique. Treatment of cotton with 8% maleic anhydride , 8% sodium citrate, 0.5% K2S2O8 and any of the above mentioned dyes with subsequent tumble drying at 700C followed by ironing of dried fabric at 700C and curing of ironed fabric at 1400C for 5 minutes produced most balanced improvements in respect of depth of shade, wrinkle recovery, colorfastness properties and strength. IR analysis indicated that, treatment of cotton with maleic anhydride and either of the above dyes under dual influence of esterification catalyst and free radical polymerization catalyst led to some degree of cross-linking of chains polymers of cotton.

Abstract: Densities and viscosities of ternary liquid mixtures of water, methanol, ethanol of volume by volume ratio of 1:1:1 have been measured at 308.15, 313.15., 318.15, 323.15, 328.15, K .From the density and viscosity data the values of various properties, Excess volume (V^E) Excess viscosity (µ^E) and Excess Gibb’s free energy of activation of flow (ΔG^E) have been determined. On the basis of the values of interaction parameters and various excess properties, the nature of molecular interactions between the components of mixtures has been explained.

Abstract: Fluorine doped tin oxide thin (FTO) films prepared by spray pyrolysis technique at a substrate temperature of 573K. The films deposited were 100 nm thick. After the deposition, the films were then annealed at different annealing temperatures of 423K, 573K and723K respectively in open air. The optical parameters of the prepared films as transmittance, optical energy gap, refractive index, extinction coefficient, porosity, packing density and the dielectric constants were found to be influenced by varying the annealing temperatures.
